SILVERSIDE ROAD TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN STOLEN FIREARM ARREST

(Wilmington, DE 19809) On Saturday, June 13, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Silverside Road when an officer observed a Dodge Durango commit a traffic violation at the intersection of Silverside Road and Carr Road. As a result of the violation, officers conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, identified as 19-year-old Deven Williams of Wilmington.

As the traffic stop progressed, officers located a loaded 9mm handgun inside the vehicle. The firearm was found to have scratched and altered serial numbers, but upon further inspection, officers were able to identify an additional serial number on the handgun. A subsequent records check revealed the firearm had been reported stolen from Pennsylvania.

Williams was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged with:

• One felony count of Possession of a Weapon with an Obliterated Serial Number

• One felony count of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon

• One felony count of Receiving a Stolen Firearm

• One traffic violation for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device

Williams was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released after posting $23,500 unsecured bail.
