Police Locate Stolen Gun During Traffic Stop-One Arrested

New Castle County Police have arrested 26 year-old Warren May for possession of a stolen gun and other offenses.

(New Castle, Del. 19720) Yesterday (August 15) The Mobile Enforcement Team were conducting proactive patrol along the Christiana Road corridor. Warren May, who was driving a gray Dodge, was observed committing a traffic violation. An officer from the Mobile Enforcement Team attempted to stop the vehicle. Warren May did not stop for officers and conducted several more traffic violations. Officers discontinued following the vehicle for the sake of public safety. With information provided to police from a citizen, officers were able to locate the gray Dodge unoccupied and still running, in the intersection of Second Ave and Valley Rd. Officers located a black hand-gun and magazine just outside of the vehicle. Warren May was then located by officers in the 100 block of S. Dupont Hwy. where he was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers learned that the handgun recovered near the vehicle was reported stolen.

Warren May was charged with 2 counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited(prior felony conviction), receiving stolen firearm, resisting arrest, disregarding a police officer signal, driving while suspended or revoked, reckless driving, failure to properly use turn signal, display of license plate, unreasonable speed, failure to stop at a red light, driving across a median. He was arraigned and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay $20,910.00 cash only bail.

Police Investigate Sexual Assault-One Arrested

New Castle County Police have arrested 26 year-old Antwine Mobley of the 500 block of Bobolink Court, Middletown, De in connection with the sexual assault of a minor.

(Newark, Del.-19702) Tuesday (August 7) New Castle County Police were dispatched to a Newark area apartment complex for the report of a sexual assault.

Police learned that a juvenile male and Antwine Mobley met on an internet dating site called, “Grindr.” The two agreed to meet in person and the victim was assaulted while inside Antwine Mobley’s vehicle.

Detectives from the criminal investigation unit developed Antwine Mobley as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On Monday (August 13) Antwine Mobley was arrested without incident. Investigators executed a search warrant on Mobley’s vehicle and located additional evidence linking him to the crime.

Antwine Mobley was charged with three counts of third degree rape where victim is less than 16 years-old and defendant at least 10 years older. He was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay $90,000.00 secured bail.

New Castle County Parkland Rules and Safety Tips

The Division of Public Safety encourages the use of the parklands throughout New Castle County, however we would like to remind everyone enjoying the parks the rules and regulations to ensure the protection of the parkland and safety of the citizens in the park. New Castle County Police will continue patrolling the parklands through the remainder of the summer and enforcing the park rules.

  • All New Castle County parklands close at dusk, unless designated for extended use activities or written permission for after-dark programs
  • Swimming is prohibited in all parks except in facilities expressly designated for that purpose
  • Vehicles are prohibited on any parkland except the roads or areas which are designated and provided for such purposes.
  • Speed Limit within all parks is 15mph unless otherwise posted
  • Alcohol consumption and possession is strictly prohibited in the parks
  • No open fires except in fireplaces and grills provided by the park
  • Permits for use of athletic fields can be obtained through the parks and recreations office at New Castle County Government
  • All pets are required to be on a leash, unless in the designated “bark park” area of the parkland
