VEHICLE STOP LEADS TO FIREARM AND DUI ARREST

(New Castle, DE 19720) Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police have charged 48-year-old Emmett Poon of New Castle with multiple felony charges following an investigation. On Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 10:14 p.m., officers observed a white Jeep Grand Cherokee with an unconscious driver, idling in the middle of the roadway near the intersection of River Road and Saienni Boulevard – New Castle. Without being prompted, the driver then accelerated, left the roadway, and came to rest in a grass area. Officers then conducted a vehicle stop however, the driver refused to comply, rolled up his windows, and turned up the volume for his music. After several minutes, the driver ultimately exited the vehicle at which time he was detained and identified as Emmett Poon. Officers observed a loaded handgun on the front passenger seat. Officers then searched the vehicle, seized the firearm, and located a second handgun magazine and Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA).

Poon was transported to NCCPD headquarters and charged with 1 felony count of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, one misdemeanor count of possession of a firearm while under the influence, one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled counterfeit substance, one misdemeanor count of driving a vehicle under the influence, and additional traffic charges. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $22,700 secured bail.

💳 NEVER provide payment via gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers.

If you receive one of these calls:

1️⃣Hang up immediately.

2️⃣Do not engage or provide any personal information.

3️⃣Report the call to your local law enforcement agency or the FTC.
