NEW CASTLE COUNTY DIVISION OF POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING IN THE ELMS APARTMENTS

New Castle County Division of Police is currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the apartment complex of the Elms.

(Newark, DE 19713). Today (October 16) at approximately 4:25pm, officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Coventry Lane for a shooting that had just occurred. Police learned that a 51-year-old male was shot and drove himself to an area hospital. He has since been labeled as being in stable condition.

Detectives from the New Castle County  Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived on scene and have assumed the investigation. There is no suspect information at this time.

This is an active and ongoing investigation and more information will be forthcoming.

NEW CASTLE COUNTY DIVISION OF POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING ROBBERY SUSPECT.

(New Castle, DE 19720) On October 7th, officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of North Street in the community of Hamilton Park for a robbery report. When they arrived the officers learned that the caller had driven to this area to sell his motorcycle to a person known to him only from social media sites.

When he arrived he was approached by a subject who claimed to be the person he was communicating with.  After a brief conversation about the motorcycle, the subject asked to sit on the bike.

According to the victim,  while the subject was seated on the bike, he went to his truck to get a tool.  That was when he heard the motorcycle start.  As he ran to grab onto the motorcycle the subject struck him and drove off on the motorcycle towards the city of Wilmington.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit have assumed the investigation and are asking if anyone can identify the subject in the red jacket.

NEW CASTLE COUNTY DIVISION OF POLICE ANNOUNCE K9 DIESEL’S RETIREMENT

(New Castle, De 19720) Today (Oct 15) was K9 Diesel’s last working day at New Castle County Division of Police.

K9 Diesel is a Belgian Malinois and has been with the Division of Police since 2011. He served alongside his handler Master Corporal Best as a dual-purpose dog trained to detect explosives as well as tracking, area, and building searches, article searches and suspect apprehension.
