New Castle County Police have arrested 25-year-old Aaron Mills following a vehicle pursuit where he fled from police with a 4-month-old child in the vehicle in the community of Penn Acres.
(New Castle, Del. -19720) On Wednesday (Feb. 1) at about 8:20p.m., County Police Safe Streets Detectives observed Aaron Mills operating a black Hyundai Sonata in the area of E. Franklin Ave. Detectives knew that Aaron Mills was wanted on active capiases and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop to arrest him. When detectives activated their police lights and sirens, Aaron Mills fled in the vehicle.
The chase continued onto E. Roosevelt Ave at which time Aaron Mills exited the vehicle while it was still moving and fled on foot. The vehicle coasted to a stop in the middle of the street without striking any other object. Detectives utilized their departmentally issued Tasers to successfully arrest Aaron Mills. When detectives returned to Aaron Mills’ vehicle, they located a 4-month-old child.
The child was turned over to a family member and was uninjured during this incident.
Aaron Mills was charged with disregarding a police officer signal, second-degree reckless endangering, resisting arrest, driving while suspended and two counts of failure to stop at a stop sign. He was also processed on his outstanding capiases. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $3,200 secured bail.
