Proactive Patrol Leads to Gun Arrest

The New Castle County Police have charged Antione Warner, 22, of New Castle, Scott Knupp, 24, of Wilmington and Tyseer Gates, 18, of Wilmington with weapon related offenses after proactive patrols in the area led to the detection of a suspicious vehicle at the Garfield Park PAL.

(New Castle, Del.-19720) On Sunday (May 28) at approximately midnight, officers were conducting proactive patrols in the area as a result of the recent shootings.  During a check of the Garfield Park PAL the officers observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot.

The officer contacted the driver, later identified as Warner who had multiple capiases.  The front seat passenger, Knupp, advised officers he had a handgun under the driver’s seat and the back seat passenger, Gates, provided officers with a false name.

A search warrant on Knupp’s vehicle yielded

  • A silver handgun under the driver’s seat
  • A silver handgun in the glove box
  • A 30 caliber carbine round
  • 26 g of powder cocaine

Antione Warner was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.   He was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $30,000 cash bail.

Scott Knupp was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon.  He was arraigned and issued a $3,000 cash bail and issued a no contact order.

Tyseer Gates was charged with criminal impersonation, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance.  He was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $4,000 cash bail and issued a no contact order.
