(New Castle, De 19720) Last Thursday (Aug 16) officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Clinton Court in regards to an unknown problem. A witness had reported that a female exited a vehicle and ran up to him in that area. The female told him that she had been sexually assaulted. The witness left the area and called 911.
When the officers arrived they located the vehicle and observed evidence of a struggle. They then determined that the vehicle belonged to a person who resided on the block of Clinton Court. There, the officers were able to make contact with 25-year-old Dwight Davis who lives at that location. Also in a bedroom of the residence was a 17-year-old juvenile female.
Officers on scene determined that the 17-year-old female victim had come to this location with Dwight Davis earlier in the evening. After expressing a desire to leave and return home, Dwight Davis threatened the victim with a knife and sexually assaulted her. The 17-year-old female victim managed to get outside of the residence, during which she ran up to a passerby to report the incident. After the passerby had left the area, Dwight Davis dragged her back into the residence where he sexually assaulted her at knifepoint again.
Dwight Davis was charged with six counts of felony Rape in the 1st Degree, one count of felony Attempted Rape in the 1st Degree, felony Kidnapping in the 2nd Degree, felony Aggravated Menacing, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, and misdemeanor Assault 3rd Degree.
Dwight Davis was arraigned by New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to Howard Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $326,000 cash bail.
