(Newark, DE 19711) Yesterday, (Sept 2) just after 6:00 a.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of building 34 Fairway Road, in Hunters Crossing Apartments for an assault report that occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m.   When the officers arrived to the scene they learned that the 33-year-old victim reported that when she returned home from work she was assaulted by an unknown male.

Detectives assumed the investigation and ultimately learned that the suspect forced his way into the victim’s apartment shortly after 0530 hours armed with a weapon. Once inside the apartment, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim. The suspect ultimately fled from the apartment, taking the keys to her car; he then fled in her vehicle.

The victim’s vehicle is described as a silver 2013 Honda CRV bearing a Pennsylvania license place #KPP0923.

The victim described the suspect as being dark skinned black male, 5’10” to 6’00” tall; he had a heavy set build.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police, Criminal Investigations Unit continue to investigate this incident and additional information will be disseminated when available.
