NEW CASTLE COUNTY DIVISION OF POLICE SEEKS PUBLIC COMMENT ON INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., (CALEA), will complete an examination of all aspects of the New Castle County Division of Police’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services, during the week of August 3-5.

The purpose of the assessment is to determine if the New Castle County Division of Police meets all applicable standards required by the Commission in order for the New Castle County Division of Police to be accredited.  CALEA accreditation is a voluntary process that the New Castle County Division of Police has been pursuing to implement best practices and demonstrates the commitment of the men and women of the New Castle County Division of Police to professional law enforcement in and for our community.   The New Castle County Division of Police has maintained their status as an accredited agency since 1988.

As part of the assessment process, agency employees and members of the New Castle community are encouraged to offer comments to the assessment team regarding the division’s candidacy for accreditation.  Due to the current pandemic, the assessment team will receive public comment by several means:
