POLICE ARREST TWO SUBJECTS IN PARKLAND FOR FIREARM AND DRUG CHARGES.

(New Castle, DE 19720) Last night (Mar 16) at approximately 11:30 p.m., uniformed patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were conducting property checks of area parklands when they observed a red Honda Civic parked in the parking lot of Chelsea Manor Park. 

The vehicle was parked in the back part of the parking lot and when the officers approached the vehicle they met with the driver, 21-year-old, Isiah Rivera, and his passenger 19-year-old Joshua Cartwright.

The officers’ investigation then led to the discovery of marijuana and a .45 caliber handgun. 

Both subjects were taken into custody and transported back to police headquarters. 

Rivera was charged with one count of felony Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Controlled Substance), one count of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon a Firearm, one count of misdemeanor Resisting Arrest, one count of misdemeanor Trespass in a County Park After Dark, and one civil violation for Possession of Marijuana.  He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released after posting $3500 secured bail.

Cartwright was charged with one count of misdemeanor Trespass in a County Park After Dark.  He was also arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on his own recognizance.
