(Wilmington, DE 19802) On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at approximately 6:44 p.m., detectives assigned to the Active Crime Trends Team conducted proactive patrols in the Pennrose community when they observed a Chevrolet Trax committing a traffic violation, leading to a traffic stop in the 4100 block of Market Street.
During the traffic stop, officers identified the passenger as 28-year-old Jalen Jackson of Wilmington. Jackson was found to have numerous outstanding warrants and was immediately detained. As officers continued their investigation, they located a bag belonging to Jackson inside the vehicle that contained a fully loaded handgun with an extended magazine.
Jackson was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged with the following:
• One felony count of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
• One felony count of Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
• One civil violation of Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine
Jalen Jackson was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $30,100 cash bail.
The driver of the vehicle was not charged and was released.
