(Wilmington, DE 19805) Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested Jyar Davis (22) of Wilmington in reference to multiple robbery investigations. The first robbery occurred on August 28, 2022, near the 1500 block of Bonwood Road in Alban Park. During that incident, a 39-year-old male victim reported that he met an unknown male suspect on the online dating application, Grindr. During the incident, the suspect pointed a black handgun at the victim and threatened to shoot him unless he turned over his cell phone and money. The victim turned over his property at which time the suspect ran from the area on foot with the stolen property.
The second robbery occurred on September 21, 2022, near the 400 block of Homestead Road in Alban Park. During the incident, a 20-year-old male victim reported that he began talking to an unknown male suspect on Grindr. The victim stated they then met and responded to the Alban Park community. The victim reported that the male suspect then removed a black handgun from his waistband and demanded his cell phone and money. The victim was able to flee from the scene at which time the suspect made off with the victim’s money and cell phone.
Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police assumed both investigations. Through forensic and digital investigative steps detectives were able to identify Jyar Davis (22) of Wilmington as a suspect. Arrest warrants were authored for both investigations. Jyar turned himself in at New Castle County Police headquarters on Monday, September 26, 2022.
Jyar was charged with two felony counts of robbery in the first degree, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and two felony counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.
Jyar was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $230,000.00 cash bail. Jyar was committed to the Howard R Young Correctional Institution.
