Over the past week officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to multiple reports of stolen motor vehicles and thefts from motor vehicles. The crimes were reported to have occurred during the overnight hours in multiple communities throughout New Castle County.
In the community of Stratford apartments – Wilmington, a vehicle was reported stolen.
In the community of Chestnut Hill preserve – Newark, multiple thefts from motor vehicles and attempted thefts were reported.
In the community of Briargate Townhouses – Bear, two vehicles were reported stolen.
In the community of Pigeon Run – Bear, one vehicle theft and multiple attempted thefts were reported.
The New Castle County Division of Police would like to remind residents of the following helpful tips:
- Remove all valuables from your car
- Lock your car
- Take your keys with you
- Park in a well-lit area
- Check your surroundings
- Ensure all windows are closed
The most common items stolen include sports gear, sunglasses, purses, wallets, laptops, and keys. Officers are currently investigating these incidents.
