(New Castle, DE 19720) Three members of an interstate burglary crew were charged for their roles in multiple burglaries that occurred in New Castle County. The first incident was reported on April 8, 2022, in the Westover Woods community. At approximately 5:25 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence on the unit block of Shisler Court for a burglary. The victim reported that unknown suspects forced entry into the home and removed a large amount of jewelry and money. It was reported that the incident occurred while the home was vacant.
The second incident was reported on June 21, 2022, in the Norwegian Woods community. At approximately 1:58 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence on the unit block of Savoy Road for a burglary. The victim reported that unknown suspects forced entry into the home and removed a large amount of jewelry, money, and merchandise. Similarly, this incident occurred while the home was vacant.
From the initial incident, detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police began an investigation into the burglaries. In both cases the victims were away from their residence and there was a reported total loss of $200,000.00 in stolen property. During the investigation several suspects were developed through investigative measures as well as investigative leads provided by assisting law enforcement agencies from multiple states.
Detectives collaborated with multiple agencies to include the Nassau County Police Department, Burglary Pattern Squad and as the investigation progressed, they were able to charge the following suspects:
Axil Castillo-Almeida (22) of New York
Cesar Almeida-Casas (27) of New York
Jeremmy Castillo-Almeida (24) of New York
All three suspects were charged with two felony counts of burglary in the second degree, one felony count of theft of over $100,000.00 and victim is 62 years or older, three felony counts of theft over $1,500.00, one felony count of conspiracy in the second degree, and two misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief.
During the week of January 9, 2023, Axil Castillo-Almeida and Cesar Almeida-Casas were taken into custody in New York with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service Task Force and are awaiting extradition to Delaware at this time.
Jeremmy Castillo-Almeida has an active arrest warrant from the State of Delaware and has not been located at this time. This investigation is ongoing.
