TWO ARRESTED IN NEW CASTLE ROBBERY

(New Castle, DE 19720) Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested two suspects in reference to a New Castle armed robbery. On Thursday, January 26, 2023, at approximately 3:54 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Birkshire Road and Oakmont Drive in Oakmont – New Castle in reference to a robbery investigation.

While on the scene, officers contacted the victim who reported he had been robbed by two suspects. The victim stated the suspects pointed a firearm at him and fled from the scene with miscellaneous property. A suspect vehicle was identified as a distinct light-colored Chevrolet Malibu.

On January 29, 2023, officers with the New Castle County Division of Police Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) were conducting a daily patrol in the area of Old Baltimore Pike and Christiana Road at which time they observed a similar make and model vehicle. Officers attempted to contact the driver after he exited the vehicle near the Community Plaza shopping center at which time he ran away. Officers chased after the individual and observed him throw a firearm. Officers then took the suspect into custody and collected the discarded firearm. The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Marcus Waller of Wilmington. The firearm was later determined to be stolen.

Through further investigation detectives with the New Castle County Division of Police were able to link Waller to the robbery from Oakmont that occurred on January 26th. Additional investigative steps led to the arrest of a second suspect who was identified as a 16-year-old male.

Marcus Waller(21) was charged with one felony count of robbery in the first degree, one count of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two felony counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, one felony count of conspiracy in the second degree, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one felony count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, one felony count of possession of a destructive weapon, one felony count of receiving a stolen firearm, one felony count of resisting arrest, and one felony count of tampering with physical evidence. Marcus Waller was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and bail was set at $286,000.00. He was later committed to the Howard R Young Correctional Institution.

The 16-year-old male suspect was charged with one felony count of robbery in the first degree and one felony count of conspiracy in the second degree. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held at the New Castle County Detention Center on $80,000.00 cash bail.
