Former High School Administrator Charged with Sexual Solicitation of a Child

(New Castle, Del.-19720) Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police, Criminal Investigations Unit, have charged Darrell Sams, Jr., a 39-year-old Camden-Wyoming man and former administrator of Appoquinimink School District, with sexual solicitation of a child.

New Castle County Detectives began an investigation in February of 2023 into an allegation that Sams sent sexually inappropriate text messages to a 17- year- old female and former student in the Appoquinimink School District.  During the course of the investigation, Detectives learned the messages were sent in June 2022. 

On Friday, (3/31) Detectives responded to Sams residence to execute a search warrant where he was later taken into custody without incident.

Darrell Sams, Jr. was arraigned and issued a no-contact order. He was released after posting a $60,000 cash bail.
