COMMUNITY SERVICES UNIT HELPS LOCATE MISSING PERSON USING PROJECT LIFESAVER TECHNOLOGY

(Newark, DE 19711) Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police, Community Services Unit helped rescue a Newark woman utilizing Project Life Saver. On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 09:20 a.m. officers from the Community Services Unit responded to the unit block of Elkton Road – Newark in reference to assisting the Newark Police Department with a missing person report. It was reported that a 52-year-old woman wandered from her property and was unable to be located. Officers utilized Project Life Saver equipment and were able to obtain a signal for the victim. Officers on the scene later located the victim in a wooded area. The victim was in good health and was safely returned to her home.

Project Lifesaver helps provide rapid response to save lives and reduce the potential for serious injury for adults and children who wander due to Alzheimer, Autism, Down Syndrome, Dementia, and other related disorders. Project Lifesaver is the premier search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety agencies and is strategically designed for “at risk” individuals who are prone to the life-threatening behavior of wandering.
