Police Investigate Domestic-Related Shooting

The New Castle County, Division of Police, are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the 1300 block of Cynwyd Club Drive. 

(Wilmington, Del. 19808) On Friday evening (6/9), officers responded to the Cynwyd Club Apartment Complex for the report of a domestic related shooting in progress. 

Officers arrived on scene to find a 40-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the torso and a contusion on her head. 

Further investigation revealed a physical altercation with weapons occurred earlier between a 14-year old male and a 41-year old man. The female victim responded to the apartment and confronted the 41-year old man with a baseball bat. The man armed himself with a handgun and ultimately shot the victim. 

Both the victim and the teenager fled the area and called 9-1-1. 

All three subjects were transported to Christiana Medical Center where they were treated and released. 

The male subject was taken into custody on scene without incident and has been identified as Michael Ruduszewski. 

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit responded to the scene to assume the investigation. 

Michael has been charged with the following:

  • Assault in the first degree
  • Reckless endangerment in the first degree 
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
  • Possession of a firearm by a person prohibited 
  • Child abuse in the second degree

Michael has been not been arraigned at this time.
