(New Castle, DE 19720) Today, (June 16), Colonel Joseph Bloch promoted Captain Laura O’Sullivan to the rank of Major.

Major O’Sullivan began her career with the New Castle County Division of Police in January 1993. During her career, she has been assigned to the Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigations Division as a Detective in the Drug Unit and the Domestic Violence Unit. She was promoted to Sergeant in August 2003 and supervised personnel in Patrol and was assigned to the Police Academy as the Academy Commander. She was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2008 which led her to command a Patrol Squad. She then transferred into the position of Patrol Executive Officer and later the Staff Executive Officer.

Major O’Sullivan is currently the Commander of Administrative Services. Major O’Sullivan proudly served over 11 years as a member of the SWAT Team. She is a graduate of the IACP-Leadership in Police Organization course, the FBI National Academy Session #238, and the Senior Management Institute of Police #61. Major O’Sullivan is also a lifetime member of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Women in Law Enforcement.
