(Bear, DE 19701) On August 28, 2023, New Castle County Division of Police Officers were made aware of an online video involving a subject causing damage to a stop sign with a firearm within New Castle County.

Through investigative measures, the subject was identified as David Coverdale (36) of Bear.  On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, the New Castle County Division of Police, Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) responded to Coverdale’s residence located in the unit block of Airdrie Drive within the community of Clairborne at Lexington Farms; Coverdale was taken into custody without incident.

During a search of the residence officers located multiple weapons which included an AR-15 rifle, a 9mm handgun, various ammunition, and 1147.95 grams of marijuana.

David Coverdale was charged with:

Possession Of A Firearm During The Commission Of A Felony

Manufacture/Deliver/Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance

Criminal Mischief Under $1000 Damage Property

Discharge Firearm Or Weapon In Public Road

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $43,000.00 secured bail.
