WILMINGTON MAN CHARGED WITH STALKING AND DUI – MARK LYONS

(Hockessin, DE 19707) Patrol Officers with the New Castle County Division of Police have charged 49-year-old Mark Lyons of Wilmington with multiple felonies following a stalking investigation. On Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 5:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Denison Ridge Townhouses in reference to a suspicious gray Jeep Wrangler. It was reported that the vehicle was observed in the neighborhood multiple times over several days and was parked in different locations. Officers arrived at the neighborhood and located the vehicle parked on a sidewalk. Officers contacted the driver who was identified as 49-year-old Mark Lyons. While speaking to Lyons, officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Officers continued their investigation and conducted multiple interviews. The investigation determined that Lyons was responding to the community and conducting surveillance on a female victim. It was reported that Lyons trespassed on the victim’s property and was looking into her windows and sliding door.

Lyons was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters and charged with one felony count of stalking, one count of criminal trespass in the third degree, one count of driving under the influence of alcohol, and additional traffic violations. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and later released after posting $2,001 cash bail.

On Saturday, December 17, 2023, officers again responded to Denison Ridge Townhouses in reference to reports of a suspicious gray Jeep Wrangler. Multiple witnesses reported seeing the vehicle as well as a suspect wandering in the area. Officers conducted a property check on foot and ultimately located Lyons walking around the development. Lyons then fled into a wooded area near Corn Husk Way. Officers later took him into custody at his residence without incident. Additional interviews revealed that Lyons was in the neighborhood on multiple dates.

Lyons was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters and charged with one felony count of stalking, one felony count of non-compliance with condition of recognizance bond, and one misdemeanor count of driving while suspended or revoked. He was arraigned by the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and held in lieu of $13,000 cash bail.
