THREE TEENS CHARGED WITH RECKLESS ENDANGERING IN NEW CASTLE

(New Castle, DE 19720) Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have charged three teens following an investigation into a shots fired incident that occurred in New Castle. On Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11:18 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired outside of the Holloway Terrace Fire Hall. While responding, a second call was made reporting that an occupied home near the scene had been struck by gunfire. Investigation on scene revealed that there was a birthday party wrapping up at the fire hall at which time a large group of uninvited individuals responded to the area. As people were leaving the party, the suspects entered a silver sedan. A suspect in the silver sedan then fired a gunshot towards a male suspect who was walking away. The shot missed the intended target and struck an occupied home traveling into the kitchen and striking an interior wall. The home was occupied by three victims at the time of the incident. The suspects then fled from the scene.

Through investigative measures, detectives were able to identify the suspect vehicle and all involved suspects. The suspects were identified as a 17-year-old male from Townsend, a 16-year-old male from Middletown, and a 17-year-old male from Townsend. All three suspects were later taken into custody with the assistance of the Special Investigations Squad and the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). Detectives conducted multiple search warrants and located a 40 caliber handgun, a 9mm handgun with no serial number, and a third 9mm handgun.

All three suspects were charged with four felony counts of reckless endangering in the first degree, 1 felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one felony count of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and one felony count of conspiracy in the second degree. The suspects were arraigned by New Castle Family Court and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on cash bail.
