(New Castle, DE 19720) Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Safe Streets Task Force have charged 38-year-old Tyrell Burton of New Castle following a drug dealing investigation. On Wednesday January 31, 2024, the Safe Streets Task Force with the assistance of the Mobile Enforcement Team took Burton, a wanted probationer into custody at the Budget Inn in New Castle. A search of his room revealed a 9mm handgun, 9 grams of crack-cocaine, 56 bags of heroin/fentanyl with xylazine, 7 grams of methamphetamine, and alprazolam pills.
Burton was transported to NCCPD headquarters and charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one felony count of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, one felony count of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited with a controlled substance, three felony counts of manufacture/deliver/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance in a tier 1 quantity, one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled counterfeit substance, and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia not related to personal use. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $124,500 cash bail.
