POLICE ISSUE WARNING AFTER TRACKING DEVICE FOUND ON HIGH-PERFORMANCE CAR.

The Auto Theft Unit of the New Castle Division of Police has seen a rise in the thefts of high-performance Mopar vehicles, including SRT Models, Scat Pack Models of Dodge Chargers, Dodge Challengers, Dodge Hellcats, Dodge Durango, and Jeep Track Hawks.

In a recent investigation, Detectives uncovered a tracking device attached beneath the bumper of a car. Detectives believe that suspects are secretly attaching these tracking devices to cars while parked in public locations. Once the tracking devices are attached, the suspects can locate the cars and then return later to steal them.

The New Castle County Division of Police advises owners of these types of cars to remain cautious when parking in public spaces and we encourage owners to inspect their cars for any tracking devices.

If any tracking device is discovered, do not attempt to remove it. Instead, promptly contact the New Castle County Division of Police non-emergency number at (302) 573-2800 and/or Detective Joshua Willis at (302) 395-8016
