NEWARK MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING INVESTIGATION INTO MULTIPLE ARMED ROBBERIES

(Newark, DE 19702) Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have charged 18-year-old Brycent Abbott of Newark following an investigation into multiple armed robberies. On Friday, September 29, 2023, at 5:25 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 10 block of Williams Court in Woodland Trails in reference to a robbery that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim. The victim reported she was approached by a black male wearing a black ski mask, armed with a handgun, and demanded her property, before fleeing the area.

On Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 2:29 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 8500 block of Rembrandt Circle in reference to a robbery that just occurred. Officers arrived at the scene and contacted the victim who reported a black male wearing a black ski mask, armed with a black handgun, demanded his money. The suspect fled the area prior to police arriving.

On Friday, March 22, 2024, at 6:52 p.m., patrol officers responded to the area of Smalleys Dam Road and Taylor Drive in Newark, in reference to a robbery that just occurred. Officers arrived at the scene and located the victim. She reported that a male approached her from behind, pressed the handgun to her back, told her to keep her eyes closed, and demanded money before fleeing the area.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 10 block of Defoe Circle in Woodland Trails, in reference to a robbery that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, and she reported that a male wearing a ski mask, armed with a handgun demanded her purse.

Following a lengthy investigation, Detectives were able to identify the suspect as 18-year-old Brycent Abbott of Newark. On Thursday, April 25, 2024, Brycent was apprehended, and a search warrant was conducted at his residence. Detectives located a black .43 cal paintball gun, which resembles a handgun.

Brycent was transported to the New Castle County Police Headquarters. Brycent was charged with:

• One misdemeanor count of terroristic threatening

• Three felony counts of Wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony.

• Four felony counts of aggravated menacing.

• Four felony counts of Robbery first degree.

Brycent was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and bail was set at $185,000 cash. He was later committed to Howard R Young Correctional Institution.

FORMER BANK EMPLOYEE FACES FELONY THEFT CHARGE FOR USING DECEASED VICTIM’S IDENTITY

(New Castle, DE 19720) The New Castle County Division of Police has arrested 25-year-old Latia Wynn, also known as Itiyya Wynn of Wilmington regarding multiple theft-related charges.

In February 2024, Officers were dispatched to a residence on Constitution Boulevard and met with the family of a Victim who had passed away from a motor vehicle accident. The family was in the process of closing all the deceased Victim’s accounts when they noticed a significant amount of money missing from a bank account.  Through investigative measures, officers identified the suspect as then-employee Latia Wynn.  During the investigation, it was established that Latia Wynn acquired the deceased Victim’s information as the family was in the process of closing the accounts and began withdrawing money while she was an employee of the Bank. After reviewing all the bank transactions, Latia Wynn withdrew over $44,000.00 belonging to the deceased Victim.

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Latia Wynn was taken into custody and transported to New Castle County Police headquarters, where she was charged with the following crimes:

•          One felony count of identity theft.

•          One felony count of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony

•          One felony count of theft $1500 or greater.

Latia Wynn was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $18,000.00 unsecured bail.

POLICE INVESTIGATE NEAR-DROWNING IN RUTLEDGE

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, at approximately 2:50 p.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to Nemours Children’s Hospital for the possible near drowning of a child. Officers were advised by the Medical Staff that a 3-year-old male had injuries consistent with being submerged underwater and suffering from hypothermia.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit were notified and assumed the investigation.

Detectives then responded to Gordy’s Little Angels Day Care located on the 300 block of Hackberry Drive. Detectives learned that the Owner had to leave the daycare to go to the store and turned the daycare over to her employee 21-year-old Natalia Harding of Bear, DE. Detectives determined that Natalia Harding was inside the residence preparing lunch as a group of unsupervised children were playing outside when she noticed a child in the water on top of the pool cover on the above-ground pool. Natalia Harding then removed the 3-year-old male from the water and called 911.

The 3-year-old male was transported via ambulance to Nemours Children’s Hospital where he was treated and released.

On April 19, 2024, the Delaware Office of Child Care Licensing temporarily shut down the daycare where this incident occurred.

On April 22, 2024, after reviewing the case with the Delaware Attorney General’s Office, detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Natalia Harding. Natalia Harding subsequently turned herself in on April 23, 2024, at the New Castle County Police headquarters, and was charged with the following crimes:

·One felony count of endangering the welfare of a child <18 that caused injury.

Natalia Harding was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on $2000.00 unsecured bond.
