16-YEAR-OLD CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE THEFTS FROM MOTOR VEHICLES.

(New Castle, DE. 19720) The New Castle County Division of Police has arrested a 16-year-old male from Wilmington with multiple theft-related charges.

On Monday, April 22, 2024, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Troopers from the Delaware State Police were attempting to locate a stolen 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe that fled from Troopers in the area of Parma Avenue, when they noticed several cars on Parma Avenue that appeared to have been broken into and ransacked. 

Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were notified and responded to Parma Avenue to assume the investigation. During the investigation, surveillance footage showed several suspects in the stolen Hyundai Santa Fe, and then the 16-year-old male walked down Parma Avenue and entered parked cars along the roadway.

At approximately 8:00 a.m., the stolen Hyundai Santa Fe was located in the City of Wilmington and the 16-year-old male, matching the description of the suspect on Parma Avenue, was taken into custody and transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with the following crimes:

·Five felony counts of conspiracy second degree.

·Four felony counts of burglary third-degree.

·One felony count of attempt to commit theft of a motor vehicle.

·Three misdemeanor counts of attempt to commit theft under $1500.

·One misdemeanor count of theft under $1500

·One misdemeanor count of criminal mischief.

The 16-year-old male also had two outstanding warrants from the New Castle County Division of Police for felony counts of receiving stolen property over $1500.

The 16-year-old male was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and held after failing to pay a $10,500 secure bond.

POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE FROM THE PUBLIC IDENTIFYING THEFT SUSPECT

(Wilmington, DE 19808) The New Castle County Division of Police is asking for the community’s help in identifying the male in the attached photo.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, patrol was dispatched to a theft report in which the victim’s credit cards had been stolen, and now being used at the Christiana Mall.

ALERT! SCAMMERS POSING AS POLICE

The New Castle County Division of Police has received several reports of scam calls using both our department as well as the New Castle County Sheriff’s Office. The fraudsters are claiming to be law enforcement, or bail officers, and requesting money be sent electronically to them to due to “missed court dates” or “missed jury duty”.

The incoming calls are showing as our non-emergency number (302-573-2800); however, it is not legitimate, and no officer will ever call to ask for money in lieu of arrest! If you receive a call like this, please don’t give any personal information out and do not send money!
