(Wilmington, DE 19804) Detectives from the Mobile Enforcement Team of the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested 31-year-old Jahmere Irvin-Sills of Wilmington on multiple felony charges following a traffic stop.
On Thursday, October 10, 2024, at approximately 12:05 p.m., Officers were conducting proactive patrols in the Maryland Avenue area when they noticed a Honda Accord with a registration violation. The Officer initiated a traffic stop and contacted the male driver and passenger, Jahmere Irvin-Sills. During the interaction, an Officer spotted a firearm inside a bag belonging to Jahmere. At that point, Jahmere fled from the scene. Officers quickly pursued him and apprehended him on Maryland Avenue. Upon his arrest, Jahmere was found in possession of a loaded handgun, 5.93 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 74.03 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and packaging materials.
Jahmere Irvin-Sills was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters, where he was charged with the following crimes:
- One felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
- One felony count of possession of a firearm.
- One felony count of possessing a firearm by a person prohibited.
- One felony count of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance.
- One felony count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, a firearm.
- One misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana other than personal use quantity.
- One misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
- One misdemeanor count of possession of a counterfeit substance.
- One misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia not related to personal use quantity.
Jahmere Irvin-Sills was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay $62,100.00 cash bail.
