TWO SUSPECTS CHARGED IN NORTH WILMINGTON BURGLARY SPREE

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested 36-year-old Joryi Campusano of Wilmington and 21-year-old Starling Pena-Garcia in connection with a string of burglaries in North Wilmington.

In November, Detectives began investigating a series of burglaries in areas including Faulk Road, Fairfax Boulevard, Darley Road, and the surrounding neighborhoods. The suspect targeted homes by first approaching the front door to check if anyone was inside. Once a house was confirmed unoccupied, the suspect would move to the rear or side of the property to gain entry through an unsecured window or door. In some instances, forced entry was made by breaking windows or doors.

Detectives identified Joryi Campusano and Starling Pena-Garcia as the suspects through investigative efforts. On Friday, December 13, 2024, Starling Pena-Garcia was located and arrested in the City of Wilmington. The second suspect, Joryi Campusano, was located and arrested in Wilmington on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. The Special Investigations Squad assisted in locating both suspects.

Starling Pena-Garcia was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Two felony counts of burglary second-degree
  • Two felony counts of theft over $1500
  • Two felony counts of conspiracy second degree.
  • Two misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief under $1000

Starling Pena-Garcia was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay $32,000.00 cash bail.

Joryi Campusano was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Seven felony counts of burglary second-degree.
  • Five felony counts of theft over $1500
  • Two felony counts of conspiracy second degree.
  • One felony count of theft of a firearm
  • One felony count of burglary third-degree
  • Eight misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief under $1000
  • Two misdemeanor counts of theft under $1500
  • One misdemeanor count of attempt to commit theft under $1500

Joryi Campusano was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay $108,000.00 cash bail.
