NEW CASTLE COUNTY DIVISION OF POLICE MOURNS THE LOSS OF RETIRED K9 ACE

It is with profound sadness that the New Castle County Division of Police announces the passing of retired K9 Ace.

K9 Ace, a 13-year-old Belgian Malinois imported from the Netherlands, passed away on Tuesday morning, surrounded by his handler, Master Corporal Cory Tanyer, and family at his side.

K9 Ace dedicated over 10 years of service as a dual-purpose police K9. His career was marked by numerous accomplishments, including apprehending suspects, locating missing children and elderly individuals, and uncovering significant quantities of narcotics. His outstanding service earned him the Animal Hero Award from the Delaware Medical Association and recognition from the New Castle County Council in Resolution No. 18-106.

After his remarkable career, K9 Ace retired three years ago to enjoy life as a beloved member of the Tanyer family. Even in retirement, he remained a loyal protector and cherished companion.

K9 Ace’s legacy will live on as a testament to his dedication, bravery, and unwavering service to the community. He will be deeply missed.
