Cold Weather Reminder: Protect Your Vehicle! ❄️

As temperatures drop, warming up your car before hitting the road might seem like a good idea, but leaving it running unattended makes it an easy target for thieves.

In past winters, the New Castle County Division of Police has seen a rise in vehicle thefts caused by this common mistake. Don’t let it happen to you—follow these simple tips:

🔑 Lock and secure your vehicle. Never leave your car running and unlocked, even for a moment. That’s all it takes for a thief to strike.

❄️ Use remote start systems. Warm up your car while keeping it locked and secure.

👀 Stay nearby and aware. Always keep your car in sight, even when it’s parked in your driveway.

💡 Take your keys and lock the doors. A running, unlocked car is an easy target for theft.

🛑 Remove valuables. Avoid leaving bags, electronics, or other valuables visible in your car.

A friendly reminder: Spring is just 72 days away—arriving on March 20th, 2025! 🌷
