The New Castle County Division of Police is a proud member of Project Lifesaver, dedicated to providing timely and effective assistance to those in need. This internationally recognized program is designed to quickly locate individuals who may wander due to conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Autism, Down Syndrome, Dementia, and similar disorders.
How it works:
Participants wear a small transmitter that emits a unique frequency, enabling trained search Officers to locate them swiftly if they go missing. Certified agencies have reduced search times from hours or even days to just minutes, with an average recovery time of 30 minutes—95% faster than traditional search methods.
First responders undergo specialized training, including community policing techniques, to ensure individuals’ safe and effective return to their families.
