(Newark, DE 19711) On Sunday, March 2, 2025, around 4:30 p.m., patrol officers with the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Cordele Road in Red Mill Farms for a possible human bone found in the resident’s rear yard. Officers believed it to be that of a human, and Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit responded and assumed the investigation. Since Sunday evening, Detectives have been searching the area to locate any additional remains. Anthropologists have been working with the Medical Examiner’s office to identify the remains.

The New Castle County Public Works Department has responded to assist with cutting back the terrain and utilizing sewer cameras to continue the search. The investigation remains ongoing, and the identification of the individual has not been confirmed. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
