DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND COLD CASE SQUAD SECURE PRISON SENTENCE IN 12-YEAR-OLD COLD CASE HOMICIDE

(New Castle, DE) – On November 12, 2012, at approximately 9:20 p.m., police responded to a shooting at 211 Thorn Lane, Studio Green Apartments, Newark, DE. The victim, Peter DiSabatino, was found on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds and later died at the hospital.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Major Crimes Squad and Cold Case Squad pursued the investigation into Peter’s murder, leading to the identification of 33-year-old Alando Dale as a suspect. With support from the Delaware Department of Justice, a grand jury indicted Dale on January 16, 2024, for Murder 1st degree. He was arrested on January 29, 2024, by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and NCCPD Special Investigations Squad.
Dale, now 35, pled guilty to Murder 2nd Degree in September of 2024. On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Dale was sentenced to 30 years in prison, suspended after 20 years, followed by transitional confinement.

“We would like to acknowledge the resilience and strength of the DiSabatino family during this difficult journey,” said New Castle County Police Chief Colonel Jamie Leonard. “This outcome was made possible due to the relentless work by the NCCPD Criminal Investigation Unit and a thorough investigation led by past and present Cold Case Investigators. Their determination to seek justice for victims and their families is truly commendable, and we hope this outcome can bring a sense of closure to everyone involved.”
