THREE LIEUTENANTS PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN

On Friday, April 11, 2025, Colonel James J. Leonard III announced the promotion of three Lieutenants to Captain. Captain Daniel Guzevich, Captain Allen Herring, and Captain Brent Snyder will now serve as members of Colonel Leonard’s staff.

Captain Guzevich began his law enforcement career in 2002 as a member of the 28th Recruit Class. Over the years, he has served in numerous capacities, including as a Patrol Officer, a member of the Mobile Enforcement Team, and on the SWAT Team. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2015 and Lieutenant in 2021, most recently serving as the Commander of the Professional Development Unit.

Captain Herring joined the New Castle County Police Department in 2004 after beginning his law enforcement career with another agency. His diverse assignments have included the Patrol Division, Mobile Enforcement Team, Drug Unit, Community Engagement and Technology, and Special Projects. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2010 and Lieutenant in 2017. Most recently, he served as the Commander of the Criminal Investigation Unit.

Captain Snyder joined the New Castle County Police Department in 1997 as a member of the 24th Recruit Class. Throughout his career, he has served in numerous roles, including Patrol Officer, Supervisor of the K9 Unit, Commander of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, and Commander of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Team. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2011 and later to Lieutenant in 2021. Most recently, he held the positions of Patrol Executive Officer and Operations Executive Officer.
