On Sunday, June 1, 2025, Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were contacted by a 14-year-old female who reported being involved in a sexual relationship with 34-year-old Joseph Caceres, a resident of the 100 block of Valerie Lane.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit of the New Castle County Division of Police were subsequently notified and assumed the investigation. Through their investigation, Detectives determined that the sexual relationship occurred between November 2024 and May 2025. At the time, Joseph Caceres was employed as a van driver for Red Lion Christian Academy and had regular contact with the victim while providing her transportation from school.
Detectives discovered that Joseph Caceres contacted the victim by phone and even visited her residence. He later arranged meetings with the victim in his personal vehicle at various public locations, where sexual activity occurred. Caceres also brought the victim to his residence, where additional incidents of sexual intercourse took place.
Joseph Caceres was later arrested at his residence and transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged with the following offenses:
- Five felony counts of Rape Third Degree Victim is less than 16 years old.
Joseph Caceres was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay $100,000.00 cash bail.
