JUVENILES CAUGHT TRYING TO BREAK INTO VEHICLES AT LIGHTHOUSE HILL APARTMENTS

(Wilmington, DE. 19809) On Monday, June 9, 2025, at approximately 12:38 p.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 1200 block of Terra Hill Drive in the Lighthouse Hill Apartments community after reports of juveniles wearing gloves and masks looking into vehicles. Upon arrival, Officers observed one individual attempting to hide between two vehicles. All members of the group were located, each wearing disguises to conceal their identities. A screwdriver and USB cable, tools commonly associated with vehicle break-ins, were recovered near where one juvenile had been hiding. Officers also obtained surveillance footage from the area, further linking the juveniles to the incident.

All five of the juveniles, ages 13,14, 14, 15, 16, were all transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where they were charged with the following offenses:

  • One felony count of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony.
  • One felony count of possession of burglar tools.
  • One felony count of conspiracy second degree.
  • One violation of criminal trespass third degree.

The 14-, 15-, and 16-year-old juveniles were arraigned and transported to a local detention center after failing to post the $11,050 secured bail.

The other 14-year-old juvenile was also arraigned and taken to a local detention center after failing to post $8,050 secured bail.

The 13-year-old juvenile was arraigned and released on $9,050 secured bail.
