(Wilmington, DE 19805) On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at approximately 9:21 p.m., Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police’s Active Crime Trend Team were conducting proactive patrols in the Alban Park area when they conducted a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet Malibu at the intersection of Alban Drive and Maryland Avenue, operated by 25-year-old Damean Dunham of Wilmington.
During the stop, Detectives located a loaded handgun equipped with a high-capacity magazine inside the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen out of Philadelphia, PA. In addition to the weapon, Dunham was also found to be in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine.
Damean Dunham was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters, where he was charged with the following crimes:
- One felony count of possession of a large capacity magazine during commission of a felony
- One felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
- One felony count of possession of a firearm if previously convicted
- One felony count of possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited
- One felony count of carrying a concealed deadly firearm
- One felony count of receiving a stolen firearm
- One misdemeanor count of possession of a counterfeit substance.
- One misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia
- One misdemeanor count of driving while suspended or revoked
- One violation of expired tags
- One violation of failure to signal continuously
Damean Dunham was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $154,601.00 cash bail.
