GUN ARRESTS MADE FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP IN ROUTE 9 CORRIDOR

(New Castle, DE 19720) On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at around 3:40 p.m., Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police’s Active Crime Trend Team were conducting proactive patrols in the Route 9 corridor when they stopped a black Nissan Altima on Terminal Avenue near the I-495 southbound on-ramp.

The vehicle was operated by 20-year-old Dasir Williams-Little of Wilmington, with 20-year-old Ollayah Blyden of New Castle as a passenger. During the stop, Detectives recovered a loaded Glock handgun equipped with a high-capacity magazine and a fully automatic switch inside the vehicle.

Dasir Williams-Little was taken into custody after resisting arrest, while Ollayah Blyden was taken into custody without incident and transported to New Castle County Police headquarters.

Dasir Williams-Little was charged with the following offenses:

  • One felony count of possession of a firearm by a person under 21.
  • One felony count of possession of a large capacity magazine.
  • One felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
  • One felony count of possession of a firearm if previously convicted.
  • One felony count of carrying a concealed deadly firearm.
  • One felony count of possession of a destructive weapon.
  • One misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
  • One misdemeanor count of breach of release.
  • One violation of failure to signal continuously.

Dasir Williams-Little was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $36,500.00 cash bail.

Ollayah Blyden was charged with:

  • One felony count of possession of a firearm by a person under 21.
  • One felony count of possession of a large capacity magazine.
  • One felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
  • One felony count of possession of a destructive weapon.

Ollayah Blyden was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $28,000.00 unsecured bail.

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN WILTON – VICTIM IDENTIFIED

(New Castle, DE 19720) On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at approximately 3:58 p.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the area of Wilton Boulevard and Stonebridge Boulevard for a report of a shooting that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim identified as 18-year-old Mateo Renato Banegas of New Castle, Delaware, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by responding officers and Emergency Medical Services, who transported him to a nearby hospital, Mateo Renato Banegas ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Detectives from the Division’s Criminal Investigations Unit are still investigating this incident, and the investigation remains active and ongoing. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
