(Newark, DE 19713) On Saturday, May 30, 2026, at approximately 1:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the unit block of Argyle Road, in the community of Robscott Manor, for a report of a burglary in progress.
Upon arrival, officers observed two individuals engaged in an altercation in the front yard of a residence on Argyle Road. Both individuals were immediately detained while officers conducted an investigation. One of the individuals was identified as 35-year-old Michael Klingenfmith of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania.
During the investigation, officers determined that earlier in the evening, Klingenfmith had been involved in a disagreement with another known individual at a local bar. Following the dispute, Klingenfmith traveled to Argyle Road to confront the individual at their residence.
After arriving on Argyle Road, Klingenfmith broke a rear window and entered a residence. Once inside, he was confronted by the homeowner and realized he had entered the wrong house. He then fled to the yard of a neighboring residence, where he confronted the individual involved in the earlier dispute. An altercation ensued in the front yard and continued until responding officers arrived.
Klingenfmith was then transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged with the following offenses:
- One felony count of Burglary in the Second Degree
- One misdemeanor count of Criminal Mischief over $1,000
Michael Klingenfmith was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released after posting $5,500 secured bail.
