TWO ARRESTED FOLLOWING VIOLENT DISPUTE IN NEW CASTLE

(New Castle, DE 19702) — On Sunday, August 9, 2026, at approximately 3:03 p.m., officers were dispatched to Hillview Avenue in the Hillview Manor community for a report of a stabbing that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult victim and a juvenile victim who had sustained puncture wounds to their upper bodies. Officers immediately provided medical assistance until emergency medical services arrived. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Both victims were later listed in stable condition and are expected to be released.

Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

During the investigation, detectives determined that the incident stemmed from an isolated dispute involving several individuals, including the victims, at another location on Lambson Lane. During the dispute, 19-year-old Jeffrey Reid of New Castle pointed a firearm at several individuals, causing them to flee the area. As the victims were fleeing, 45-year-old Oral King engaged in an altercation with them, during which King stabbed both victims.

The victims continued fleeing the area and eventually encountered officers and emergency medical personnel on Hillview Avenue.

Later that evening, officers located King and Reid and took both individuals into custody without incident. They were transported to New Castle County Police headquarters, where they were formally charged.

  • One felony count of Noncompliance with Conditions of a Recognizance Bond

King was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $122,000 cash bail.

Reid was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $67,000 cash bail.
