In an effort to bring attention to the numerous gun arrests that are made by the New Castle County Division of Police, we bring you Firearm Friday. These postings will encompass a selection of recent firearm arrests made by our officers.
(New Castle, DE 19720) Yesterday (Sept 9), in the community of Collins Park, Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police Mobile Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on a white Kia. During the stop, probable cause was established to search the vehicle.
During the search, a small amount of Marijuana was located along with two concealed handguns.
Both the driver 23-year-old Shmar Miller and the 23-year-old passenger, Yonnae Nolan were taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.
Miller was charged with one count of felony Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon a Firearm, one count of Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession, and one count of Following too Closely.
Noland was charged with one count of felony Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon a Firearm and one count of civil violation Possession of Marijuana.
Both were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on their own recognizance.


(Newark, DE 19713) Last Sunday ( Sept 5 ) officers from the New Castle County Division of Police and officers from the Division’s Mobile Enforcement Team were patrolling in the area of the community of Brookside. During that time a silver Honda Accord was observed traveling with obvious equipment violations. As officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle, they saw that it had pulled into the Brookside shopping center. In the shopping center, the officers positioned themselves behind the vehicle and the vehicle began making evasive maneuvers in attempts to avoid being stopped. A traffic stop was eventually conducted on the vehicle in the Brookside shopping center and contact was made with the sole occupant of the vehicle, the operator, 20-year-old Joseph Windsor.
During the course of the traffic stop, witnesses told the officers that a handgun had been thrown from the vehicle. After a brief search, a black 9mm handgun without a serial number or manufacturer’s markings was located a short distance from the stop.
Windsor was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. There he was charged with one count of felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, one count of felony Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon a Firearm, one count of felony Tampering with Physical Evidence, and the following traffic violations: Tint Violation and Failure to Signal before Turning.
He was arraigned by the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and held in lieu of $28,003 cash bail.

( New Castle, DE 19720) Over the past several months officers have received information that 19-year-old Rondel Jones was seen on multiple occasions in possession of a firearm in the Wilton area. On September 3rd while on patrol in the Wilton area officers from the New Castle County Division of Police observed Jones operating a White Nissan Rogue on Wilton Blvd. A vehicle stop was conducted and during the stop, probable cause was established, and a search of the vehicle rendered 36.16 grams of marijuana packaged for sale. Officers also located a black Polymer 80 handgun concealed under the driver seat.
Rondel was transported back to police headquarters and charged with one count of felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, one count of felony Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (previous felony conviction), one count of felony Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Firearm), one count of felony Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, and a Safety Glass Violation.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released after posting $19,600 secured bail.

(Newark, DE 19713) On August 27th, officers from the New Castle County Division of Police Safe Streets/ATF Task Force were conducting surveillance in the area of the Quality Inn Hotel on Geoffrey Dr., Newark. While on surveillance officers observed suspicious behavior between 32-year-old Tommy Foster and 32-year-old Jessina Denton in the parking lot. Both subjects were seen getting into a black Dodge Avenger which subsequently drove away violating multiple traffic laws. A traffic stop was then initiated and contact was made with both subjects.
During the course of the stop, Foster gave a false name and probable cause was established to search the vehicle. Officers located (1) Taurus G2c 9mm handgun, 10 rounds 9mm ammunition, 49 Tramadol pills, marijuana, and additional MDMA concealed within the vehicle.
Both subjects were taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. There Foster was charged with one count of felony Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (previous felony conviction), one count of felony Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Firearm), one count of felony Possession of a Firearm Prohibited (with a controlled substance), one count of misdemeanor Criminal Impersonation, one count of misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance, and one count of civil violation Possession of Marijuana.
He was arraigned by the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and held in lieu of $34,001 cash bail.
Denton was charged with one count of misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance, one count of Failure to Signal Turn and Seatbelt Violations. She was also arraigned by the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas however, she was released on $251 unsecured bail.
