(New Castle, DE 19720) Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested 21-year-old Monir Leach of Chester, Pennsylvania for robbery and firearm charges. On Saturday, February 25, 2023, at approximately 4:45 a.m. patrol officers with the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to William Penn Village Apartments – New Castle in reference to a robbery.
Upon arrival, officers contacted a 35-year-old male victim who reported being robbed in the parking lot of the complex. OFC Hartlove and his K9 partner Nova responded to the area and conducted a track which led to a specific apartment inside the complex. Officers were also able to determine that the victim’s phone which was stolen during the robbery was pinging near the same location.
Officers later observed a male matching the suspect description exit the apartment at which time he was stopped. Officers searched the suspect and located a loaded handgun and marijuana on his person. The suspect who was identified as 21-year-old Monir Leach was later transported to NCCPD headquarters and charged with:
One felony count of robbery in the first degree.
One felony count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
One felony count of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.
One count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Monir Leach was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Howard R Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $85,000.00 cash bail.
