POLICE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO HEROIN ARREST IN WILMINGTON

(Wilmington, DE) During the month of May, Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) were investigating illegal drug activity involving a specific suspect selling heroin throughout New Castle County.

The investigation revealed that 32-year-old James Demby of Wilmington was conducting illicit drug sales. On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, officers conducted surveillance and ultimately took James into custody without incident. James was found to be in possession of 315 separate bags of heroin and 3.34 grams of crack cocaine. Further investigative steps revealed that James was selling drugs from a motel room located near the 1000 block of South Market Street.

James Demby was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters and charged with one felony count of manufacture/deliver/possession with intent to deliver a substance in a tier 2 quantity, one felony count of manufacture/deliver/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia not related to personal use. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $14,000.00 bail.
