(Newark, DE 19711) Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested 18-year-old Traesun Johnson of Newark in reference to a robbery that occurred in May. In the early morning hours of May 10, 2023, a white Dodge Durango pulled onto Fairway Road. Three masked suspects armed with firearms then exited the vehicle and confronted an adult male victim who just finished working. The suspects held the victim at gunpoint and forced him to turn over his cell phone and property.
Through investigative measures, Detectives were able to identify one of the suspects as Traesun Johnson. Johnson was arrested on May 11, 2023, following a separate robbery investigation by the Delaware State Police. After additional evidence was obtained through the course of the investigation, Detectives were able to charge Johnson on July 5, 2023.
In reference to the Fairway Road robbery, Traesun was charged with one felony count of robbery in the first degree, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one felony count of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, one count of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and one felony count of conspiracy in the second degree. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and bail was set at $79,000.00 cash. Johnson remains incarcerated at Howard R Young Correctional Institution.
