Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested 25-year-old Shawn Williams of New Castle after an attempted sale of a stolen dirt bike led to the discovery that he was also in possession of a stolen vehicle.
The investigation began after Detectives were notified of a possible sale of a Honda dirt bike reportedly stolen from Philadelphia, PA, on November 4, 2025. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit were assigned to the case and, through an extensive investigation, identified Shawn Williams as the suspect who attempted to sell the stolen dirt bike on an online marketplace.
On November 14, 2025, Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the unit block of Dunning Court in New Castle and recovered the stolen dirt bike. Shawn Williams was not at the residence at the time but was later located by Detectives from the Violent Crimes Interdiction Team at his workplace in the 4900 block of Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark. During his arrest, Williams was found in possession of a key fob for a Chevrolet SS. The vehicle was later located and confirmed to have been reported stolen from Howard County, MD, in August 2025.
Shawn Williams was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with the following offenses:
- Two felony counts of receiving stolen property over $1,500
- One felony count of selling stolen property valued over $1,500
Shawn Williams was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance. Since he was currently on work release, he was transported back to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
