We are once again receiving complaints about individuals calling residents and falsely claiming to be officers with the New Castle County Police Department.

The scammers are using all kinds of stories, claiming you missed a court date, failed to sign a subpoena, have an outstanding warrant, or whatever other nonsense story they can come up with.

But the end result is always the same: 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆.

🚨 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁: Scammers are now spoofing our non-emergency number, 𝟯𝟬𝟮-𝟱𝟳𝟯-𝟮𝟴𝟬𝟬, to make it appear that the call is coming from the New Castle County Police Department. 𝗗𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗗.

While the number displayed on your phone may be 𝟯𝟬𝟮-𝟱𝟳𝟯-𝟮𝟴𝟬𝟬, the scammers are not actually calling from that number, and any number they provide for you to call them back will not be our non-emergency number.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿:

𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 to avoid an arrest, clear a warrant, or resolve a missed court date.

𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆, provide gift cards, cryptocurrency, banking information, or other financial information to someone claiming to be a police officer.
