ROAD CLOSED-TELEGRAPH ROAD (WILMINGTON)

(Wilmington, DE 19804) Detectives with the Traffic Services Unit of New Castle County Division of Police are currently investigating a motor vehicle collision in the area of Telegraph Road and Route 7.

Telegraph Road will be closed between Route 7 and Old Capitol Trail/St James Church Road, please find an alternative route.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

***INVESTIGATION UPDATE***

On Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, at 7:31 a.m., The flatbed truck that was involved in the incident at Millers Gun Center was located behind a business in the 500 block of North Dupont Highway in New Castle. Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit along with investigators of The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are at the scene and continuing to investigate this incident.

PATROL OFFICERS ARREST THREE JUVENILES DURING ATTEMPTED VEHICLE THEFT-GORDY ESTATES

(WILMINGTON, DE 19804) On Monday, May 27, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Garnet Road for a report of three juveniles attempting to break into a Hyundai Sonata. Upon arrival, officers began checking the area and found three juvenile suspects matching the reported descriptions walking on Kiamensi Road in Belvedere. The suspects, identified as a 13-year-old male and two 15-year-old females, all from Wilmington, were later found in possession of several USB cables and pocketknives. While in police custody, the 13-year-old male threatened to harm the officers and attempted to escape from the back of the police car, but the officers prevented him from doing so.

The 13-year-old male was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • One felony count of possession of burglar tools or instruments.
  • One felony count burglary third degree.
  • One felony count of attempt to commit theft of a motor vehicle.
  • One felony count of conspiracy second degree.
  • Two misdemeanor counts of terroristic threatening.
  • One misdemeanor count of criminal mischief less than $5000.
  • One misdemeanor count of resisting arrest
  • One misdemeanor count attempted to commit escape third degree.

The 13-year-old male was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $11,000 unsecured bail.

The 15-year-old female was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters where she was charged with the following crimes:

  • One felony count of possession of burglar tools or instruments.
  • One felony count burglary third degree.
  • One felony count of attempt to commit theft of a motor vehicle.
  • One felony count of hindering prosecution.
  • One felony count of conspiracy second degree.
  • One misdemeanor count of criminal mischief less than $5000.

The 15-year-old female was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $3,000 unsecured bail.

The second 15-year-old female was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters where she was charged with the following crimes:

  • One felony count of possession of burglar tools or instruments.
  • One felony count burglary third degree.
  • One felony count of attempt to commit theft of a motor vehicle.
  • One felony count of conspiracy second degree.
  • One misdemeanor count of criminal mischief less than $5000.

The second 15-year-old female was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.
