(WILMINGTON, DE 19804) On Monday, May 27, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Garnet Road for a report of three juveniles attempting to break into a Hyundai Sonata. Upon arrival, officers began checking the area and found three juvenile suspects matching the reported descriptions walking on Kiamensi Road in Belvedere. The suspects, identified as a 13-year-old male and two 15-year-old females, all from Wilmington, were later found in possession of several USB cables and pocketknives. While in police custody, the 13-year-old male threatened to harm the officers and attempted to escape from the back of the police car, but the officers prevented him from doing so.
The 13-year-old male was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters where he was charged with the following crimes:
- One felony count of possession of burglar tools or instruments.
- One felony count burglary third degree.
- One felony count of attempt to commit theft of a motor vehicle.
- One felony count of conspiracy second degree.
- Two misdemeanor counts of terroristic threatening.
- One misdemeanor count of criminal mischief less than $5000.
- One misdemeanor count of resisting arrest
- One misdemeanor count attempted to commit escape third degree.
The 13-year-old male was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $11,000 unsecured bail.
The 15-year-old female was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters where she was charged with the following crimes:
- One felony count of possession of burglar tools or instruments.
- One felony count burglary third degree.
- One felony count of attempt to commit theft of a motor vehicle.
- One felony count of hindering prosecution.
- One felony count of conspiracy second degree.
- One misdemeanor count of criminal mischief less than $5000.
The 15-year-old female was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $3,000 unsecured bail.
The second 15-year-old female was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters where she was charged with the following crimes:
- One felony count of possession of burglar tools or instruments.
- One felony count burglary third degree.
- One felony count of attempt to commit theft of a motor vehicle.
- One felony count of conspiracy second degree.
- One misdemeanor count of criminal mischief less than $5000.
The second 15-year-old female was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.
