When the officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a 2008 Nissan Rogue was traveling on Pike Creek Road heading eastbound when it struck a 52-year-old male pedestrian.  The 18-year-old female driver of the Rogue remained at the scene and was interviewed by the officers. The 52-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators from The New Castle County Division of Police Traffic Services Unit then arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation.  While the investigation is still in its early stages, the investigators have revealed that impairment does not appear to be a factor.
