FOUR JUVENILES ARRESTED FOR VEHICLE THEFTS AND ATTEMPTED THEFTS

(Newark, DE. 19702) On Thursday, June 19, 2025, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 2000 block of Stone Place in the Village of Kent Apartments for a report of a Hyundai Elantra stolen.

Before Officers arrived, the owner of the stolen Hyundai Elantra was contacted by the Darby Township Police Department in Pennsylvania regarding her vehicle being involved in an incident in their jurisdiction. Unaware that her vehicle had been stolen, the Victim then contacted the New Castle County Police to report it stolen.

While Officers were on scene at the Village of Kent Apartments, a second victim reported that her Nissan Altima had been broken into and that personal property, including credit cards, was stolen. She later learned the stolen cards had been used at multiple businesses in Pennsylvania.

At approximately 4:00 a.m. on June 19, 2025, Darby Township Police received reports of juveniles breaking into vehicles in their area. Their investigation led to the arrest of two juveniles inside the stolen Hyundai Elantra taken from the Village of Kent Apartments. A third suspect attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. The suspects were identified as a 15-year-old male from Wilmington, a 16-year-old female from Newark, and a 15-year-old female from Wilmington.

Shortly after, a fourth suspect, a 16-year-old female from Wilmington, arrived at the scene in another stolen vehicle from the City of Wilmington, apparently attempting to locate the other suspects. She was arrested and found to be in possession of the stolen credit cards taken from the Nissan Altima.

Through investigative efforts, Officers were able to confirm that all four juveniles were involved in the early morning incidents at the Village of Kent Apartments.

All four suspects later turned themselves in at New Castle County Police Headquarters, where they were charged with the following offenses:

  • Two felony counts of second-degree conspiracy
  • One felony count of theft of a motor vehicle
  • One felony count of attempted theft of a motor vehicle
  • Two misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief under $1,000
  • One misdemeanor count of third-degree conspiracy
  • One misdemeanor count of theft under $1,500

All juveniles were arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $4,000 unsecured bail.
